Home Improvement

If anyone is still checking this blog, and maybe nobody is, you've probably noticed that I haven't been updating very frequently (ahem, if at all).  Spring is "project" time around our house, and writing has taken a back seat to the multiple home improvement endeavours we have taken on the past month or two.  One project complete:  the kitchen.

Before:

Ugly kitchen, and I just couldn't take it anymore.  The cabinets are junky contractor grade from over a decade ago, no backsplash, a fluorescent light, no character whatsoever.  We couldn't afford to gut it, so we decided to give it a little face lift.

After:

I sing the praises of Rustoleum's cabinet painting kit... a little time consuming, but so so easy.  Cheap glass tile backsplash, new light fixtures (although you can't see them in this picture), fresh paint... a brand new kitchen for only about $1000.  Can't beat that!

My favorite part of the project had to be while I was tiling the backsplash... Maggie was getting annoyed that it was taking me so long to complete and she told me "Mom, next time you should get someone else to do the reptile work."

Home improvement project currently underway... Catie's "big girl" bedroom, and yard maintenance/improvement.  Can't wait to share before and after of those as well!
