September?

Seriously?  It's September 28th already?  Where did the last 28 days go?  Do you remember how the school year used to seem soooo long.  It was so hard to wait for summer vacation, and it was soooo long between homecoming and prom in high school.  Back then three months dating the same boy seemed like an eternity.  And then in college, the time between Friday nights started to fly by, but the time between the beginning of the semester and winter break still crawled.  Your first real job, first real apartment, first real shot at adulthood didn't seem all that different than childhood - but the clock started moving faster, birthday's came quicker.  Then before you know it you have a baby and now the clock is practically spinning off the wall... and then you have another baby and the clock just rocketed out the window!  I expect the next 18 years will be something like this - waking up each morning and realizing that it was not a day that past, but a whole month, or a whole year.  Does it slow down after the kids are out of the house?

Speaking of time flying, Catie has a few new developments to share.  She has a small but mighty vocabulary:  nigh-nigh, sister, mama, dada, dog, shoe, shirt, cheese, and a few others.  More exciting than that, she's finally walking!  Her official first steps were about two weeks ago, but as of today she can make it all the way across the kitchen.  She still favors crawling, but each day I see her rely a little more on her two little feet so I know it will be no time before she's running after her sister.  Right now she's standing in front of the fridge without support, pulling all the magnets off of her sister's artwork and saying "uh-oh" as they fall to the ground.  Only a mother could find such an act so utterly adorable.

As all us old people can tell you...the older you get the faster it goes, especially when you're having fun. I still can't believe I have a kid as old as you!
